Bei diesem Butterfass handelt es sich um ein Stoßbutterfass, d. h. ein stehendes Fass mit einem innenliegenden auf- und abgehenden Stößer. Der in das Fass eingefüllte Rahm wurde durch Stampfen bzw. Stoßen zu Butter verarbeitet.
