Es handelt sich um ein Brustbild nach halbrechts mit Schlips und Kragen und einer weißen Schirmmütze auf dem Kopf. Dargestellt ist der brandenburgische Schiffsreeder Carl Stein (1858-1941), der zum Zeitpunkt des Gemäldes bereits 69 Jahre alt ist. Vielleicht handelt es sich um ein Bild, das aus Anlass der Geschäftsübergabe an den Nachfolger erfolgte, ein Maler mit Namen M. Wiechert, der auch auf dem Gemälde signiert und datierte "M: Wiechert. / 1929" ist bisher als Künstler nicht nachweisbar. Die Reederei Carl Stein hatte ihre Niederlassung im Gotischen Haus in der Brandenburgischen Altstadt nahe an der Jahrtausendbrücke. (ib) Das Gemälde kam 2011 als Geschenk aus Brandenburger Privatbesitz in die Sammlung.
