Description

The shell comes from a Caribbean sea snail species, the queen conch, Lobatus gigas, Strombus gigas (L., 1758). Not all objects of the Hauser collection survived above ground. This sea snail surfaced during gardening work in someone's front garden. The surprised finder did not understand how it could have ended up there until he learnt about the Hauser collection at Restaurant Zainhammer, which was opposite his property.
